JERSEY CITY, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A new robotic burger machine debuted at a Jersey City mall Wednesday. The owner says it fits a full kitchen into 12 square feet.
RoboBurger, a burger vending machine at the Newport Centre, makes a burger with all the usual toppings (ketchup, mustard and cheese) in just six minutes and can be customized to suit customer preferences.
But the machine isn’t perfect. On the first day of use, some burgers weren’t cooked through, and some weren’t even done after six minutes.
Co-founders Dan Braido, Audley Wilson and Andy Segal said the machine is equipped with measures to minimize failures, such as shutting down the machine if a problem occurs.
The three Jersey City co-founders hope to expand the business to more malls, hospitals and universities across the country. Bredow and Wilson, who met at Carnegie Mellon University, worked on the idea for 16 years before teaming up with Siegel to make it a reality.
RoboBuger may not have kitchen staff preparing the food, but there are staff behind the scenes making sure the entire process runs smoothly.
The burgers are available 24 hours a day, making them even more appealing, and those who have tried them say the wait time of less than 10 minutes is worth it.
